On September 24, NIFA Internet Finance Cyber and Information Security Committee held a mid-term meeting in Beijing to review relevant research projects. The meeting was chaired by Committee Chairman Wang Yonghong and attended by Deputy Chairmen Lu Jianmo and Zhang Yan. Also present were experts from the People’s Bank of China and Agricultural Bank of China, as well as representatives of project leaders.
Deputy Chairman Lu gave an introduction of the progress the Committee has made in research, while attendees delivered their mid-term reports on four projects respectively, i.e. Internet Finance Cyber and Information Security Capability Standard System, Study on Data Security in Internet Finance, Study on Chinese Encryption Standards in Payment Apps, and Forecast on Cybersecurity Trend in FinTech. After in-depth discussion, experts agreed that all research projects had been improved since the proposal meeting, with better methodology and richer content.
In his concluding remarks, Chairman Wang proposed work arrangements for the next phase. First, to put more emphasis on specific sub-sectors or sub-industries. Second, to focus more on well-timed topics. Third, to enhance the effectiveness of research results and accelerate the transformation to market practices and industry self-regulatory standards. He stressed that project leaders should mobilize their group members and leverage the expertise of them to conduct high-quality research, improve cyber and information security in the internet financial sector and promote the sustainable and healthy development of the industry as a whole.
